From leggings to statement t-shirts, the weather wasn't the only thing hot this summer in Hollywood.

Fall is just around the corner which means celebrity fashion trends will be changing with the seasons yet again. Before sweaters are taken out of closets and jackets are required, let’s take a look back at fashion trends that emerged in Hollywood this summer.

Leggings

The 1980’s called, it wants the stretch-pants back. Stretch pants to the 1980's generation are what teenagers now call leggings. The tights/pants are worn under a dress or long, baggy shirt. For this generation, the leggings are mainly solid colored with a leopard print thrown in here or there.

Lindsey Lohan designed her own line of leggings for $130 per pair. Her line of leggings is called “6126 Leggings by Lindsey Lohan” and feature different animal prints, zippers at the ankle and sewn in knee pads.

Everyone from Lohan to Christina Aguilera and reality star Lauren Conrad were wearing the 1980’s throwback leggings this summer.

Maxi Dresses

A maxi dress is a stark contrast to last summers trend of short hemlines, or “minis”. The maxi dress looks like maternity wear and many pregnant celebrities including Ashlee Simpson and Tori Spelling were rocking the flowy dress this summer.

However, the relaxed, flowing style has seeped into non-maternity wear for many celebrities as well. Jessica Simpson has been spotted in many a maxi dress along with Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson and Halle Berry who are also big fans of the somewhat hippy style dress.

Boyfriend Jeans

This trend has newly emerged towards the end of summer. Stars are ditching the “skinny jean” style in favor of the “boyfriend jean”. According to a New York Times Style Section article in July, the boyfriend jeans are a “higher-waisted, well washed, slouchy style based on a pair of Levi’s 501’s XX from the 1950’s”.

Katie Holmes, Gwen Stefani and even “Posh Spice” Victoria Beckham have put this new style into the mainstream recently. But wear this style with caution. The style may not be as flattering on fuller figured or short women and, for the most flattering look, should be worn with a fitted top.

Statement T-Shirts

  • Political:

Hollywood has exploded with political agenda. Everyone from Kim Kardashian and Halle Berry to Cynthia Nixon and Perez Hilton are displaying their political agenda for everyone to see.

The most popular message: vote for Barack Obama. Ryan Phillippe, Halle Berry and Kim Kardashian have been recently spotted wearing their support for Obama on their clothing. Kardashian’s most recent message was “Obama his my homeboy”. Other celebrities such as The-New-Mister-Mariah-Carey, Nick Cannon, are a little more subdued with their political statements. Cannon wears his political agenda on a beanie hat that simply reads “Obama ‘08’” on the front.

  • Miscellaneous Statements:

Jamie Lynn Spears wore a t-shirt that simply read “The Rumors Are True” when rumors were swirling about her engagement to boyfriend Casey Aldridge.

Paris Hilton is no stranger to statement t-shirts. Her statements are usually about “being hot”, loving fashion or even just a picture of herself splayed across her shirt. However, she was recently spotted at an airport with boyfriend Benji Madden with a shirt reading “Our Love is the Real Thing”.

Matt Damon’s wife, Luciana, is pregnant with the couple’s second child. She was recently photographed in a bump-hugging black shirt that read “b.u.m.p.- baby under manufacturing process”.
